Appreciation Dinner and Dance

I would like to put on record that the Appreciation Dinner and Dance for all volunteers was a resounding success. Thanks to the Board, the Staff and a few volunteers who worked behind the scene in organising this annual dinner for the volunteers. I can appreciate the amount of time and effort put in by all parties concerned - soliciting sponsors, preparing the invitation list. sending the invitation out to all volunteers, typing the names on the certificates and  pasting the names on the very useful souvenir. I would definitely try it when I next eat at hawker centres.

The first thing which struck me when I arrived at the Grassroots’ Club was to be greeted by a team of young staff instead of volunteers who normally man the reception. I learned later that as it was Volunteers' Appreciation Night,  all members should just sit back and  enjoy themselves .

The night started off slow as the MC is young compared to the one we had last year but he ended off on a high note. He is a natural dancer and can "gelek" very well. Knowing that there would not be many social dancers for the dance segment, he introduced the MTV segment which was very funny and humorous. RSVP members are not actors/actresses but the fun was in watching these "raw talent" doing their utter best to show off their talent to us and hopefully Mediacorp talent scouts were around and would recommend employment to them. Kudos to the four couples who courageously went up on stage to strut their stuff. They were all winners. The three best dressed men and women who went up on stage to do "The Hustle" were also"great entertainers" Never mind if they could not dance as well as the MC but they entertained us and we had a great laugh. Mr. Raymond Huang was very sporting and he deserved the prize for being the best dancer among the men. Convey my thanks and appreciation to everyone who had a hand in organising this great event.

Regards,

Nancy
