Polytechnic Students Outreach Programme (PSOP)

This programme has been expanded to not only facilitate the learning of English to international students but also to explore, discover and learn about Singapore and its culture. The objective of this programme is to help students settle down more quickly and allow them to interact with people of different cultures and make new friends.

International students form 11 percent of each polytechnic's student population. Annually, about three percent of them are new to Singapore. The focus of this programme is on this group of students and the activities organised cover:

  • Orientation - International students learn about Singapore, our transport system, local food, customs and multi-racial society and languages.
  • Conversational English classes - RSVP volunteers help the international students improve their conversational English to foster greater cross-cultural understanding.
REQUIREMENTS: Volunteers need to have a good command of English, have a friendly disposition and want to help our foreign friends with their English.
